The gank
Surprising a lane to play it two against one.

« Before you leap out of the bushes, read the wave. On your side, their Flash down, no ward on your path? Then the surprise has every chance. »
- Their wave on your side
The waves meet on your side of mid. To farm, their laner has walked up, far from their tower.
- No Flash, and your CC
Their Flash is down, and your laner has crowd control: once you're on them, they have no way out.
- Where they can't see
Their ward watches the short way in. You go around it through the river, and end up behind them.
- The gank
Two against one, between them and their tower: no Flash, no way home. The kill is yours.
- The classic mistake
The wave is on their tower, their laner safe under it. You walk in through their ward: seen, they step back, and the tower hits you.
When to do it
- Their wave is on your side of the lane: their laner has walked up, far from their tower.
- Their Flash is down: once you're on them, they have no way out.
- Your laner has crowd control (a stun, a root, a slow): at two, the kill gets much easier.
How to keep it
- Come in where they have no ward: through the river or from behind, not down the path they light.
- Get behind them: between them and their tower, so their only way home runs through you.
- Ping your laner before you show: you both go in at the same moment.
The tip for your rank
Before going in, look at the wave: if it's near their tower, don't go. Pick the lane where it sits on your side.
Check their Flash and their wards before picking a path: a gank nobody sees coming, on a laner with no Flash, rarely fails.
Even a gank with no kill can pay: a Flash burned, a back forced, a wave lost. Your laner takes the lead from there.
