Count before you fight
Who's alive, who's here, who's missing: then decide.

« Hmm, an enemy missing from the minimap hasn't vanished: they're on their way. Count the living before you chase, the simplest measurement there is. »
- Count first
An enemy runs away, low. Before following, you count: two of you here; of them, one seen, two dead, two missing.
- Missing means coming
The two you don't see are probably on their way to help him. With them, it's two against three.
- Two against three: pull back
You and your support back off toward your side before they show up. No kill, but no death either.
- The classic mistake
You chase into the fog while two are missing. They were right there: two against three, and you die first.
When to do it
- Before you chase: a low enemy running into the fog is bait until you know where the others are.
- Before an objective: count who's alive on both sides before you start it.
- After a kill: you're one more until they respawn. That's the moment to push your lead.
How to keep it
- Check the scoreboard and the minimap: the dead have a respawn timer, the others are on the map or missing.
- Missing means coming: an enemy you can't see is closer than you think.
- Even or worse, pull back: don't take a two against three, however low the one in front of you is.
The tip for your rank
Before chasing, count the red dots on the minimap: if some are missing, let the kill go.
Know who's dead and for how long: the scoreboard shows their timers. Your window lasts until they're back.
Count before the fight starts, not during it: you pick the fights you have the numbers for, and give up the others without a death.
