Your positioning in a fight
Behind your frontline, at the edge of your range.

« Picture a rubber band between you and the brawl: stretched to the edge of your range, never slack, never snapped. And always a tank in between. »
- Behind your frontline
Your tanks in front, you behind them. To reach you, an enemy has to go through your frontline first.
- At the edge of your range
You hit the closest enemy from as far as your range allows. Not a step closer.
- Out of their reach
Their engager jumps in: he lands on your tanks, not on you. You keep hitting, and he dies.
- The classic mistake
You walk in front of your tank to deal more damage. You're the closest target: their engage lands on you, first to die.
When to do it
- You deal the damage but can't take it: a carry, a mage, anyone squishy stands behind.
- Their engager is alive and in sight: find him, and stay further than his jump.
- Their engager isn't in sight: assume he's close, and stand even further back.
How to keep it
- Your tanks in front, you behind: the first enemy to reach you should have to go through them.
- Hit from the edge of your range: the closest enemy you can reach, from as far as you can.
- Step back when they step in: keep the same distance; the fight moves, and you move with it.
The tip for your rank
In every fight, one question: is someone from my team between them and me? If not, step back.
Know their engage range: the jump, the hook, the ultimate. Stand just outside it, and hit what's in front.
Position around their key spell: once it's spent, you can step up; while it's up, you respect it. Your positioning follows their cooldowns.
